Dr Anna Broinowski is an international award-winning filmmaker who specialises in documenting subversive and timely subjects. Films include the 2016 AACTA-winning Pauline Hanson: Please Explain! (SBS), the Netflix/ABC feature Aim High in Creation! (releasing in South Korean cinemas September 2018), Forbidden Lie$ (voted one of the top 100 Australian films of all time), Helen’s War, Sexing the Label and Hell Bento!! They’ve won, amongst others, a Walkley, Best Film at Silverdocs USA, a NSW Premier's Literary Award, the Writers Guild of America Best Nonfiction Screenplay, 3 AFI/AACTAs and a Russian Film Critics’ prize shaped like an elephant.
Anna has also published two non-fiction books, the NIB Waverly Alex Buzo shortlisted The Director is the Commander (Penguin Skyhorse USA) and Please Explain: the rise, fall and rise again of Pauline Hanson (Penguin Random House), and is documentary Vice-President on the Australian Directors' Guild board.
