Collections being targeted in 2011/12 by the eRecords project
- Heritage Pictures collection, one of the most significant historical and documentary collections in Australia; more than 90% of this colelction is now accessible via electronic records.
- Maps collection: a major collection of maps and charts documenting European exploration and discovery of the Pacific. Examples include the Orbis terrae compendiosa descriptio, a map first published in 1587, condensed from the first map of Gerard Mercator constructed using the cylindrical Mercator map projection – a major advance for marine navigation and cartography.
- More books and serials from the Mitchell Library collection. Dewey numbers 0-399 and 900-999 now accessible via electronic records. The project team is now working on Dewey numbers 800s (Art and Literature).
- The Library’s manuscript collections papers and archives from 17th century to present. These personal, institutional and business records form one of the Australia’s largest and most comprehensive collections of their type, covering all aspects of cultural life and intrinsically connected with Australia’s development.
