Artist Louis Vasco wrote these love letters to his new bride and were beautifully illustrated with charming French farmyard scenes. He promises his wife he will bring her to France; ‘apres la guerre’ (after the War). Sadly he was wounded in May 1918 and passed away of meningitis on 3 August 1918 at Napsbury Hospital in England.
You can see these beautiful letters digitised in the State Library of New South Wales catalogue.
You can also see them up close during our exhibition Life Interrupted: Personal Diaries from World War I which is on from 5 July 2014 to 21 September 2014
