One of over 700 digitised subdivision plans for the Sydney Suburb of Ashfield drawn up by real estate agents. These plans (created between the 1880s and 1930s) were pasted up in shop windows and around telegraph poles to entice property buyers to the auction.

These plans provide a wealth of historical information about the suburb and the surrounding suburbs as well.

The State Library of NSW holds many thousands of these plans for most Sydney Suburbs and many towns of New South Wales.

We have begun the process of digitising them in earnest and are close to completing the Sydney suburbs starting with A.

Go to our catalogue and type in the suburb name and the words subdivision plans. You can search the contents list for your particular street to see how and when it developed over the years.
