Blog post from Tuesday, 14 April, 2015

On this day 14th April 1870, gold was first discovered in Gulgong, New South Wales, Australia.

These photographs are from the Holtermann collection of 3,500 glass-plate negatives held at the State Library of New South Wales. The negatives were digitally scanned in a major project undertaken at the Library, and have been included in the UNESCO Australian Memory of the World Register.
