A hand coloured, double hemispherical map of the world showing routes of explorers. The eastern coast of Australia is incomplete, as is the outline of New Zealand. Guillaume L’Isle, a pupil of Cassini, was geographer to the King of France and a member of the French Academy of Sciences. This map originally appeared as the first plate in an atlas published after L’Isle’s death, Albrizzi’s Atlante novissimo che contiene tutte le parti del mondo … vol.1. Giambattista (or Giambatista) Albrizzi was an Italian publisher and journalist. The Albrizzi family was active in publishing in Venice for about 150 years.
