One year ago, on 21 October 2014, Gough Whitlam, former Prime Minister of Australia died, at the age of 98.

Edward Gough Whitlam (1916 - 2014) was the 21st Prime MInister of Australia, from 1972 to 1975 and the Leader of the Labor Party from 1967 to 1977. He led Labor to power for the first time in 23 years at the 1972 election but was controversially dismissed by the Governor General Sir John Kerr at the climax of the 1975 Australian constitutional crisis.
