Language Teachers prepare for Sydney Festival

Language teachers, Aunty Jacinta Tobin and Joel Davis, visited the Library this week in preparation for their language classes that will be taught as part of the 2017 Sydney Festival.

Darug woman Aunty Jacinta Tobin and Gadigal man Joel Davison lead a range of language classes developed to provide a foundational understanding of local language. Learn greetings and introductions; landscape and placenames; body parts; simple grammar and sentences; and a song.

The Indigenous Services team provided an overview of collections that are held at the Library relating to Sydney languages. More information on our historic language collections is available on the Rediscovering Indigenous Languages project website.
