Professionals call for crackdown on 'backyard' tattoos

A person under the age of 18 must have parental consent to get a tattoo or any permanent marking on the skin. A person performing tattooing or similar procedures without parental consent is committing a criminal offence under the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998, section 230.
