We were sad to hear of the passing yesterday of Australian motor sport legend, Sir John (Jack) Brabham. Born in Hurstville in 1926, Jack rose from racing midget cars in the 1950s to becoming World Formula 1 champion three times. Jack was just as notable for the cars he designed, and was still appearing at motor sport events right up until his death.

This photograph of Jack Brabham in action at Warwick Farm in 1961 is from the Australian Photographic Agency collection at the State Library of New South Wales.
