Young people and police
This video is produced by Legal Aid NSW as part of its Best for Kids website which has a range of legal information for young people and their families.
This video deals with a realistic scenario where young people are approached by police when they have a ‘reasonable suspicion that the young people have illegal drugs in their possession.
It steps through the rights that a young person has in these circumstances but also illustrates how things can be made worse by reacting aggressively.
It also looks at receiving a caution, or going to court, and the help that is available for under-18s.
