Douglas Stewart was a poet, journalist, writer, editor and literary critic and had 11 books of poetry published, starting with Green Lions in 1933. Stewart was awarded an Order of the British Empire and an Order of Australia for his services to Australian Literature.
Australian artist Margaret Coen was known for her watercolours, paintings of flowers, landscapes and still-life works. Stewart and Coen married in 1945 and the Library holds both their papers.
