Originally catalogued as Mining camp at Bathurst / E. Tulloch, following Sir William Dixson's title and attribution. The artist E. Tulloch is otherwise unknown; the painting has subsequently been attributed to David Tulloch, an illustrator and engraver who is known to have made sketches of the Victorian goldfields.
