With Marilla North
Marilla North returns to the Library to speak about the love poems of Australian writer Dymphna Cusack AM and their place in the chronicle of her life story. On the 115th anniversary of Cusack’s birth we will explore her unique voice and her importance within the wider history of Australian literature. In 1979 Marilla North worked on the project to bring Come in Spinner to the screen — the World War II novel wrought from Cusack’s collaboration with Florence James. Marilla has travelled the world in Cusack’s footsteps, her journey including the old USSR in the early 1990s where she researched, interviewed and archived. North’s multi-text biography of Cusack continues with this chapbook of love poems.
