Hear Australia’s first ever performance of music from the Rimini Antiphonal of 1328. From the Library’s Rare Books collection, this Medieval manuscript is much admired for its illuminations by the renowned Italian miniaturist, Neri da Rimini. Dr Neil McEwan, lecturer at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and specialist in the Gregorian chant, will give a pre-concert talk before directing the St Laurence Gregorian Schola and Singers in a performance of chants, not sung in more than 600 years. These chants will be interspersed with motets by Tallis, Palestrina, White and Duruflé, all based on Gregorian motifs and staged in the Mitchell Vestibule.
PLEASE NOTE: This performance is booked out. Please contact Bookings to register your interest in a future performance.
