Dr Peter Tyler will discuss his history of the Royal Society of New South Wales, which examines the cultural significance and intellectual influence of the Society as the first scientific organisation in Australia. Established in 1821, its extensive archives are now held in the Mitchell Library. Peter is the 2008 Merewether Fellow.

Dr Jodi Frawley will talk about science, pastoralism and environmental change in nineteenth century NSW. She will examine the introduction of new fodder and forage species to support the pastoral industry. These new species have had a significant impact on the appearance of the Australian landscape. Jodi is the 2009 Merewether Fellow.

Dr Roger Scott Osborne will introduce his project: 'Material and textual study of Joseph Furphy's Such is Life. Towards an electronic edition of an Australian classic'. Roger is the 2011 Nancy Keesing Fellowship.
