Leigh Hobbs and Mr Chicken will be in the building to help us celebrate Book Week 2018. Leigh will entertain us with his fabulous stories and guide participants in a drawing workshop. Stick around and explore the Book Week theme Find your treasure with a range of fun activities, crafts and tours.

Australian Children’s Laureate 2016-2017, Leigh Hobbs is an artist, cartoonist and author best known in Australia and the UK for the twenty children’s books he has written and illustrated featuring his characters Old Tom, Horrible Harriet, Mr Chicken, Mr Badger, Fiona the Pig and the Freaks in 4F.

 Old Tom was adapted into a popular animated cartoon TV series while Horrible Harriet was adapted for the Sydney Opera House stage. Leigh’s ‘Mr Chicken Goes to Paris’ was shortlisted for the 2010 Prime Ministers Literary Awards and has been a constant seller in the Louvre Museum bookshop in Paris for eight years.

Leigh was a secondary school art teacher for 25 years.

Join Leigh for a fun packed hour of drawing. Learn to draw not only Old Tom, Horrible Harriet and Mr Chicken but Leigh will show you how to create your very own characters!
