Indigenous Services Talk: Celebrating NAIDOC Week

To celebrate this year’s NAIDOC Week theme: “Because of Her, We Can!” join Melissa Jackson and Marika Duczynski from the Indigenous Services team for a discussion and viewing of special items held in the Library’s collection authored by, or featuring, remarkable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women over the last 200 years. The team will unearth treasures including original manuscripts, portraits, realia and oral histories by:

-  Cora Gooseberry (Kaaroo)

-  Matora

-  Mary Jane Cain

-  Ruby Langford Ginibi

-  Pearl Gibbs

-  Faith Bandler

This event will be a chance to view these items up close and personal, hear the fascinating stories behind them and celebrate the lives and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in our communities and our nation.
