John Gould was a British ornithologist and artist. It is estimated that over half a million individual hand-coloured plates of birds and animals were produced under the Gould name. This extraordinary output was the result of Gould's drive and business acumen as well as his ability to develop a strong international group of specimen collectors, artists and administrative agents. Hear about Gould's life and wor and see some of his publications from the Library's rare book collection.
