'A Passion for Exploring New Countries’

Past Event

Thursday, 8 December 2016 - 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Join Josephine Bastian as she celebrates her new book, ‘A Passion for Exploring New Countries’: Matthew Flinders and George Bass.

Flinders and Bass arrived in Sydney in 1795. Over the next eight years they changed the map of Australia, and Flinders gave it its name. The two men were primed for greater ventures, but their lives turned to tragedy when Bass was lost at sea and Flinders imprisoned as a spy on Mauritius.

Join Josephine as she discusses her new book, which is historically accurate yet as gripping as any novel. Dame Marie Bashir launches this important new work, followed by a discussion between Paul Brunton OAM and the author.
