Dr Giorgia Alu, Chair of Italian Studies, University of Sydney is our guest speaker, and will give a short introduction to the book, followed by group discussion. This month’s book: Elena Ferrante, My Brilliant Friend. Using the nom de plume, Elena Ferrante, this mysterious Italian author has received world acclaim for her novels. In 2012, Europa Editions began publication of English translations of Ferrante's"Neapolitan Novels", a series about two perceptive and intelligent girls from Naples who try to create lives for themselves within a violent and stultifying culture.
