Shakespeare and the Silver Screen: Julius Caesar

1953, 121 mins

Digital restoration of a classic film with soundtrack.

In this Shakespeare classic, the growing ambition of Julius Caesar is a source of major concern to his close friend Brutus. Cassius persuades him to participate in his plot to assassinate Caesar but they have both sorely underestimated Mark Antony.

Julius Caesar is a 1953 epic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film adaptation of the play by William Shakespeare, directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, who also wrote the uncredited screenplay, and produced by John Houseman.

The film stars Marlon Brando as Mark Antony, James Mason as Brutus, John Gielgud as Cassius, Louis Calhern as Julius Caesar, Edmond O'Brien as Casca, Greer Garson as Calpurnia, and Deborah Kerr as Portia.
