Special Event: Celebrating the work of Les Murray

In conversation with NSW State Librarian, Dr John Vallance

Les Murray, Australia’s greatest living poet, will appear exclusively at the State Library of NSW for a special event to celebrate the launch of his new and updated Collected Poems. This magnificent hardback edition contains all of the poems he wants to preserve from his rich artistic back catalogue.  Les will reflect on his life and work in this frank and fearless conversation led by the charismatic State Librarian, Dr John Vallance.

Les Murray lives in Bunyah, near Taree in NSW. The author of some 30 books, his work is studied in schools and universities around Australia and has been translated into several foreign languages. In 1996 he was awarded the T.S. Eliot Prize for poetry, in 1998 he won the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry and in 2004 he was awarded the Mondello Prize. His most recent collections include The Biplane Houses, Taller When Prone, Best 100 Poems and Waiting for the Past.
