Open Day: Workshops

SATURDAY 6 October 2018

We love to help! The Library is full of people who can introduce you to our free resources.
Come along to one of our workshops and find out more.

These workshops are in the Flinders Room, Lower Ground 1, Macquarie St Building

10.30 am — Indigenous Family History

The Library has a wealth of material for people engaged in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family history research. Join librarians from the Library’s Indigenous Services team for a discussion on these resources and other strategies that may assist you in your journey.

12 noon — Starting Family History at the State Library

Family history can reveal surprising and sometimes moving lost stories that enhance an individual’s understanding of who they are. Family history librarians will introduce the Library’s diverse family history collections.

1.30pm — Introduction to eResources

This introductory hands-on workshop highlights the online resources available through the State Library website. Learn how to access ebooks, local and international newspapers, reference works, full-text magazines and more. Basic computer skills are required.

3 pm — HSC Help: Get started at the State Library

Did you know that HSC students can use their Library card to access a fantastic range of free high-quality eResources, anytime, anywhere?

Join us for an introduction to resources for students studying English, History, Legal Studies and Society & Culture. We’ll show you how to go beyond Google and find great online resources for research projects.
