About the Honours
The inaugural Honours of the Library Council of New South Wales were presented in 2014. These awards recognise distinguished individuals who contribute to the cultural enrichment of Australia through excellence in the library, information and related fields.
The following categories are awarded:
The Medal of the Library Council of New South Wales
The highest honour conferred by the Library Council and is awarded for exceptional and sustained achievement at the highest level in a field of endeavour consistent with the mission and values, vision and strategic priorities of the Library.
The Dixson Medal
Awarded for distinguished and sustained achievement in a field of endeavour consistent with the mission and values, vision and strategic priorities of the Library.
The Ifould Medal
Awarded for distinguished and sustained achievement as a professional librarian, archivist or curator consistent with the mission and values, vision and strategic priorities of the Library.
Emeritus Curator
Awarded for eminent and sustained contributions to the development, preservation or interpretation of the collections of the State Library.
Honorary Fellow
Awarded for exceptional and sustained contributions in support of the aims of the State Library.
