What inspired you to take this role?
When I arrived as a migrant in 1972, to take up a lectureship in economic history at the University of New South Wales, one of the first places that I visited was the State Library. In spite of all the twists and turns of my career in the last 42 years I have remained a regular visitor, perusing not only its wonderful store of material on Australian colonial history and contemporary public administration but also finding out more about my family history in its genealogical collection.
