Library champions celebrated at the NSW State Library

The prestigious Honours of the Library Council of New South Wales for 2016 were announced at a special awards ceremony at the State Library of New South Wales last night.

Former Minister for the Arts and recently appointed President of the Library Council of New South Wales The Honourable George Souris AM conferred the Honours on six individuals in recognition of their contributions to the cultural enrichment of Australia through promoting excellence in library and information services.

“The Honours of the Library Council of New South Wales are establishing a great tradition of recognising the highest level of achievement in libraries, information and related fields,” said Mr Souris.

“These individuals have consistently worked for the development and enrichment of Australia’s libraries and research communities and supporting the aims of our wonderful State Library of New South Wales. Their work highlights the vital role that libraries play in the cultural life of our society today.”
