Accessible events

The State Library of NSW offers a range of accessible facilities and inclusive services.

Hearing assistance

In the Macquarie Street building, there is a hearing loop in the Metcalfe Auditorium and one-to-one hearing assistance at the Family History and LG1 service desks.

In the Mitchell building there is a hearing loop in our Dixson Room.

Companion Card

The State Library of New South Wales is a proud affiliate of the Companion Card program. For any ticketed events,  an extra ticket is issued at no cost for people who require the assistance of a companion or carer . If you have a Companion Card please let our Events staff know when booking tickets so that a second ticket can be arranged.

Wheelchairs

The Library can provide wheelchairs to assist visitors to move around the Library. Please see staff at the Information Desk in the foyer.

All of our venue spaces accommodate for wheelchair access.

Auslan Interpreters

Should you require an AUSLAN interpreting service at an event, please contact our event staff who can arrange this for you: 02 9273 1770 or via email: 

A minimum notice period of 2 weeks is required for this service to be arranged.

Captioning 

The State Library of NSW utilises an onsite captioning service at our major award ceremony events. This service is currently available at our Premier’s Literary Awards and our Premier’s History Awards.
