We're transforming your State Library into a global cultural destination for all.

We want to ensure everyone has the opportunity to access and enjoy this much-loved Sydney landmark and the extraordinary riches within it.

Our master plan will deliver:

Unprecedented public access for all

We're activating heritage spaces and improving access in and around our Mitchell and Macquarie Street buildings.

exciting new gallery experience — coming 2018

premier learning centre — coming 2018

We’re breaking new ground in the learning environment with this engaging, digitally rich, hands-on space for K—12 students, teachers and families.

Future plans include:

A rooftop restaurant/function space with surrounding views of the city.
A 400-seat auditorium with better connection to the Governor Marie Bashir Reading Room
