Public libraries celebrate Law Week 2017

Law Week is a nationwide initiative held in May every year to promote community awareness and understanding of the law, the legal system and the legal profession. Courts, legal agencies, solicitors, barristers, police and public libraries are all encouraged to get involved. It’s a wonderful opportunity for libraries to promote the Find Legal Answers resources and service to the community.

For Law Week 2017, many libraries chose to highlight their legal collections with a display. Others worked with local solicitors who gave talks on legal subjects of interest to the community, including wills and planning ahead, family law, strata living, scam awareness, shopping rights, buying and selling property, and financial management.  Many of these talks were in community languages.

And over 15 libraries partnered with Legal Aid NSW to present talks on cyber safety and traffic law.

Congratulations to all public libraries who participated! Find more information and highlights of the wonderful events presented on the Law Week 2017 page.
