The Banks Project aims to improve access to the State Library’s Sir Joseph Banks collection.

We have completed the first and second stages of the Project which includes digitising the Sir Joseph Banks papers and enhancing our detailed research guide. We have also provided background on the life of Sir Joseph Banks and access to the fully digitised Endeavour journal.  Also included are links to other significant Banks collections around the world.

With the help of digital volunteers, full transcriptions of all documents in the archive have been created, thus making them fully keyword searchable.  You can search the Sir Joseph Banks papers on our Transcription website.
