Convict transportation registers database, 1787-1867

This database has been compiled from British Home Office (HO) records by the State Library of Queensland.

How to find your convict

STEP 1

Enter your convict's name into the 'Find a convict' search box on the ‘Convict transportation registers’ page of the State Library of Queensland’s website. You can also try searching by your convict’s ship or date of arrival if known. Click Go.

TIP
If the full form of a convict’s first name returns no results, try searching using an abbreviated form as some first names were recorded in the registers in this way, e.g. Robert, William or John may appear as Robt., Wm. or Jn.
STEP 2

Find your convict in the results list and click on (View details) to see more information, including your convict’s sentence, ship, place of arrival and date of departure.

TIP

You can see the names of the other convicts on the same voyage as your convict by clicking on Find all of the records for this voyage.

STEP 3
Print or email this record by clicking on the relevant link on the right of the page and following the prompts.
STEP 4
To do a new search, click on Clear search screen near the top of the page and type a new search word into the search box provided next to ‘Search for Family History resources’.
