Protect the future of one of the world’s great libraries with a planned gift.

Why bequests matter

The late Nancy Tuck, Library benefactor

If you are considering leaving a gift to the State Library or if you already have, thank you. Your gift will make a lasting contribution to one of the world’s great libraries, helping us grow and share our collection and continue to offer our resources and services free of charge.

A gift in your will, no matter how small, will make a huge difference to the Library. We need your help to acquire, preserve and share Australia’s heritage for future generations. Help us give every Australian the opportunity to be inspired by our collection of over six million rare books, photographs, artefacts, paintings, letters and diaries as well as an increasing range of digital materials.

We appreciate your will is very personal and any information you provide will be treated with respect and in confidence. We can also work directly with your solicitor if you are making a new will or updating one.

A bequest costs nothing now yet gives you the satisfaction of knowing you have provided for the Library in the future.  We can tailor your bequest for a specific cause or for an endowment that may help us to improve our buildings and facilities for the community, host free exhibitions, or support educational programs and fellowships.

If you would like to personally discuss your planned gift or learn more about our Bequest program, please contact:

The Library Circle

The Library Circle is a group of  individuals who have pledged a bequest to the State Library. They share a close relationship with the Library and benefit from exclusive activities including curator talks, behind-the-scenes viewings of original material and exclusive events.

The focus of this program is our way of publicly showing our deep appreciation for their generosity and support.
