Finding your way around the Library

We have two reading rooms as well as other study areas across two buildings. You will find computers in both reading rooms and free Wi-Fi throughout the Library.

   Governor Marie Bashir Reading room

The Governor Marie Bashir Reading Room is on Lower Ground 1 (LG1) and Lower Ground 2 (LG2) of the Macquarie Street building.

You can bring a small bag into the reading room, but bags larger than 25 × 35 × 10 cm will need to be placed in a locker. Find out about hiring a locker at the Library.

   SPECIAL COLLECTIONS AREA

You will find the Special Collections area in the Mitchell Reading Room. Staff in this area can help you with your research using our manuscripts, pictures, oral history, rare books and maps. You cannot take bags, food or drink (including bottled water) into this area.

The Special Collections area is closed on Sundays.
