Rooftop revitalisation

The Library’s vision to be fully accessible to all includes providing access to parts of the historic Mitchell building rooftop. 

The Library Bar is a small bar licensed to serve 120 people. Accessible from the Domain, it has been designed simply so that no alteration to the envelope of the building will be visible from below.      

This venue offers Sydneysiders and visitors a unique experience while at the same time helping to encourage people back into the CBD. Everyone over the age of 18 will be welcome.

Work to extend the bar's popular observation deck is complete. Now twice as many people can enjoy the spectacular views of the Harbour and across the Domain this summer. Providing lift access to this space is also in the works. Read more
