Cursed! is a story of family, race and religion that packs a punch. Bernadette has been called home to Geraldton to be with her family around their dying grandmother, Nan. Bernadette’s mother has children to Maltese, Aboriginal and Chinese fathers. But it’s a mixed-up family in lots of complex ways. Curses abound.  

This is a family drama that is screamingly funny and full of insight. Bedford’s ability to juggle questions of cultural heritage, sexuality, mental illness, Catholicism and much more is skilful and secure. This is the original voice of a playwright who gives vibrant individual life to her characters and their dilemmas, and who knows the ways of the stage.
