This playful, illustrated non-fiction picture book by Phillip Bunting is based on a subject that has possibly been on everyone’s minds lately — bacteria and viruses. Bunting has excelled in simplifying a dense and scientific subject, while keeping it enjoyable and entertaining. Evident throughout is Bunting’s trademark irreverent sense of humour and quirky cartoon illustrations.

The information is laid out neatly in eye-catching segments, making it easy for the reader to follow. Bunting weaves a narrative into the book about the good and bad microbes in our lives, making it relatable for kids. It’s perfect for any reader who is curious about viruses and germs, and there are practical tips on how to stay healthy. Coronavirus is only mentioned once, ensuring the book will remain relevant long after the pandemic.
