A lyrical novel set in Tasmania, The Octopus and I follows the story of Lucy as she recovers from cancer. During this time of readjustment, she develops an obsession and deep sense of connection with the local octopuses. These creatures become central to how she experiences her life and start to re-shape her understanding of herself in the wake of illness. The Octopus and I is a beautiful exploration of forms of creaturely survival, human and beyond, and a striking meditation on grief, loss and female endurance.
