Why is it important?

When young Russell discovers his pet rabbit and frog have escaped, his family set off on an adventure to find them again. Written and illustrated by Bob Graham, the story presents readers with ideas of freedom and loss.

Bob Graham is a six time winner of the Children's Book Council of Australia Picture Book of the Year Award and has written and illustrated many acclaimed children's picture books including How to Heal a Broken Wing, How the Sun Got to Coco's House, The Red Woollen Blanket, and Max.

Why is it on your desk?
To prepare for a display of original Australian children’s book illustrations on the Lower Ground of the Macquarie Street Building in late September.

How did it get here?
The Library acquired this illustration and many others from the archive of Anne Bower Ingram, children's author and editor of children's literature, in 1992.
