On this day, 26 March 1484, William Caxton first printed his English version of Aesop’s Fables.

Here begynneth the book of the subtyl historyes and fables of Esope whiche were translated out of Frensshe in to Englysshe by wylham Caxton at westmynstre in the yere of oure Lorde M. CCCC. xxxiij
