On this day, 8 April 1867, Australian landscape painter Sir Arthur Streeton was born.

Streeton was one of the leading artists of the Heidelberg School, of Australian Impressionism.

The State Library of New South Wales holds an original sketchbook belonging to Arthur Streeton from the late 1880s.

His most well known works include ′Still glides the stream, and shall for ever glideFire’s On and Golden Summer held in the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the National Gallery of Australia.
