We need your help!
We’re collecting posters, flyers and mail-outs created in response to the bushfires in NSW.
While many people will eventually discard this material, it provides important information about a significant event in our history. The State Library collects this ephemeral material, as well as online content including websites and social media posts, to help tell the stories of our state for future generations.
We appreciate your help in preserving this material. Please send material to:
State Library of New South Wales
Alternatively, please drop material into the Library at our Information Desk near the Library bookshop.
Looking to preserve precious books and other paper-based items that have survived a bushfire? The Library’s conservators have prepared helpful fact sheets on drying wet books, dealing with mould, and smoke and odour removal. The Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Materials’ brochure After a Fire details the salvaging of other fire-damaged possessions. Further resources on looking after collections pre- and post-fire can be found on the AICCM and Blueshield Australia websites.
