Celebrating young writers

An important event in the Learning calendar is the awards ceremony celebrating the HSC English Extension 2 students featured in the publication, word eXpress Young Writers Showcase.  This joint initiative between the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and the State Library is a celebration of the extraordinary writing talents of students who completed the HSC in 2017. We were delighted to welcome this group of exceptional young people, their proud parents and teachers for an evening of recognition and celebration.

The word eXpress program has been in operation for six years and includes student seminars in Term 4 for students about to embark on English Extension 2. This year student seminars will be held in Orange on Friday 16th November and in Albury on Friday 23rd November. The Sydney seminar will be held on Friday 2nd November and bookings open on the 17 September. These full day seminars provide students with inspiration and advice through a combination of lectures and small group workshops led by experts in the area.

The State Library also provides a range of online resources to support students including reflection statements from past high achievers, a series of ‘top tips’ videos, research guides and access to a range of eresources.
