Looking for information about global events reported in the London media during the 19th and 20th centuries? 

The Sunday Times Historical Archive, 1822-2006

This database contains: 

  • Analysis and commentary on the week’s news, covering murders, crimes, court cases, the theatre scene, music, sports and politics. 
  • Births, deaths and marriages information. A great source for family history and genealogy.
  • Content for researching humanities and social sciences, especially in the areas of history, media studies/journalism, literature, cultural studies, politics and performing arts. 

This database includes features for browsing by date or term frequency, and is cross searchable with the database Gale Primary Sources, another eresource available to Library card holders. 

The Sunday Times were well known for their investigative journalism in the 20th century. An example is the work of Sunday Times’ Insight Team, in the following article:
