We’re excited to launch a NEW family program in 2018.
On the last Sunday of every month (February – November), between 11:00am and 2:00 pm we’ll be sharing stories, craft and tours inspired by our collections and exhibitions and you’re invited!
These special events are suitable for the whole family so please make a booking and visit us between 11:00am – 2:00pm on the last Sunday of the month.
Did you know we have more than 2.5m books at the Library as well as maps and artefacts , photographs and painings - all sorts of amazing stuff? We can’t wait to share it with you!
To kick things off on Sunday 25 February, celebrated children’s author Jacqueline Harvey will share stories from the hugely successful Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose series’ as well as introduce the first book of her brand-new spy series Kensy and Max. Hot off the press, you’ll be the very first to hear about this exciting new series and you could even purchase your own autographed copy of Kensy and Max before it’s released in the bookstores.
Between 11:00am and 2:pm the Glasshouse will be filled with fabulous craft activities and at 12:00, 12:30, 1:00 or 1:30 you can join a special kids tour of the magnificent Mitchell Library. We’ll show you some of our favourite spaces – would you like to see the oldest thing in the Library?
Bookings are essential and the cost is $5 per family group, plus booking fee.
Coming up in March, we will be sharing stories and craft from around the world as we celebrate Multicultural March and in April our theme is Shakespeare for Shorties. It’s never too early to meet the Bard and you’ll be amazed when you see the special Shakespeare room at the Library. In May we will be heading off on an expedition to explore marvellous maps.
