Between 10 pm Saturday, 11 July and 1 am Sunday, 12 July (AEST) access to the Manuscripts, Oral History and Pictures catalogue and the viewing of digitised items will be temporarily unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience.
We are very excited to announce that our Flickr images are all now available as high resolution downloadable files due to some clever work from our DXLab. They are all copyright free so have some fun recreating with our images and please reference the Library as the source. We would love you to let us know how you have used the images with the #madewithslnsw hashtag.
The Library joined the Flickr Commons in 2008 and we have almost 3000 images in the account with a variety of different file sizes for users to download. Our Flickr sets are incredibly popular with over 34 million views. We have 129 albums which have been carefully curated around events, exhibitions and popular themes. We love seeing reactions to our photos and some gather a lot of attention. Our most often viewed image is from a set themed around Antarctica. These penguins have been viewed 963098 times and while they look rather cold they are actually going through a normal processing of moulting!
We have been building our Flickr set since 2008 and sometimes we have been a bit too eager adding images that have not been digitised to a high enough resolution or perhaps scanned and linked but never attached to a record. If you find that your favourite image is not available as a high res download please let us know and we will see if we can located the right file for you!
