To celebrate National Youth Week 2017, the State Library warmly welcomed Lakkari Pitt who will be undertaking a full time Professional Placement of six weeks with the Indigenous Services Branch. Lakkari is a Gamilaroi descendant, and is currently completing her final semester of the Bachelor of Aboriginal Professional Practice at the University of Newcastle.
Lakkari will be working closely with the Indigenous Services team on upcoming projects. She will assist with the organisation of the Tindale Genealogies, audio transcription, and general administration. Excitingly Lakkari will also support Jonathan Jones for the ‘Creating Sydney’ project.
Lakkari is keen to learn more about the library sector and materials relating to Aboriginal people and culture held in the Library’s collection. She first became familiar with the State Library through researching her Aboriginal Studies Major for the NSW HSC.
Lakkari is interested in art and paints as a form of expression and relaxation.
We are proud to welcome Lakkari into the Indigenous Services team!
