Do you have an ancestor who played sport?

The State Library of NSW holds sporting collections such as the Davis Sporting Collection no 1 and the Davis Sporting Collection no 2 which are a collection of books, newscuttings, pamphlets, photographs and manuscripts on Australian sport that once belonged to John Corbett Davis (1868-1941), editor of The Referee, The Arrow, and The Sunday Times. Items date mostly from circa 1890 to 1939, but there are exceptions in both directions.

The Bert L. Cox Collection is another example, it is a collection of photographs, newspaper cuttings and some manuscript material on boxing assembled over a fifty year period by boxing enthusiast Bert L. Cox. It consists mainly of newspaper cuttings (1928-1981) and photographic portraits of boxers from the nineteenth century to the 1970s.

We also hold The Tom Brock Collection 1902-1997 relates to rugby league and the South Sydney District Rugby League Football Club.

We also have periodicals such as Soccer World and Rugby League Week.
