On Tuesday we welcomed 18 excited students and 70 proud parents, teachers and grandparents from across NSW.
Our guests were here to attend a very special presentation celebrating the creative skills of primary students from across the state.
WriteOn! is a writing competition run by the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES) and the State Library where primary aged students respond to a photograph from the Library’s collections with a creative writing piece. The work of the award winners is then published in an anthology. Just imagine being a published author before you leave primary school!
The stimulus image for this year is a Sam Hood image of children walking on a wall and can be seen here.
The winners came from as far away as Albury and Ballimore (33 kilometres west of Dubbo) and apart from the official prize giving ceremony students also enjoyed a special behind the scenes tour and lashings of chocolate cake.
