Bring Utzon Back1967

by Grahame Crocket

On 28 February 1966 the resignation of Danish architect Jørn Utzon from the Sydney Opera House project caused an unprecedented international outcry. Sydney architects and concerned members of the public waged a sustained campaign over the next two years to reinstate Utzon but were ultimately unsuccessful. These ‘Bring Utzon Back’ posters were designed, screen-printed and distributed by a group of architects and interior designers employed by the Public Works Department in the NSW Government Architect’s Office.
